I Don’t Know What A Photog Is And What The HECK Is A Protog

Definition of Photog and another new word
Photography is constantly growing, the people and the terms. A newer term that appears to be trending and seems slightly hipster to me is the word “photog”.
Photog
Slang for Photographer; it’s usage was once thought of as cool, and in some circles still is. However, some photographers take offence to being called “photogs”. (Urban Dictionary)
One thing I find fascinating is that, according to Merriam-Webmaster, the first known use was circa 1906. But unfortunately, I can’t find more details about it.
Since, we are learning new words, I wanted to mention one more. The word was originally spoken by Tiff on accident. I was like, “Hey, I like it!’
Want to know the word?
Protog
Slang word for Professional Photographer; It combines the two words in a fun and descriptive way.
Before I let you go thinking my wife is a literary genius, I need to mention Protog is a registered business name and this section might not last that long. They may force me to take it down.
I’m hoping they just overlook this little post. The Protog website seems to have decent prices and sells professional photography gear, based in Australia.
I hope you enjoyed this simple posted about 2 newer photography words (newer to me at least). Comment below and let us know the first time you heard either of those words.
